La decisión de comenzar o mejorar un programa Wellness requiere de compromiso, recursos y tiempo, pero lo más importante es tener en claro los motivos y objetivos correctos, pues al hacerlo te ayudarán a transformar la cultura laboral de tu empresa, impactando incluso en la vida de los empleados y sus familias.

Sin embargo, existen factores que pueden llevar al fracaso la implementación del programa, por esta razón te compartimos la siguiente lista para ayudarte a decidir si es buen momento para implementar o comenzar un programa Wellness.

 

7 Aspectos a considerar de un programa Wellness

 

  1. Tu motivo. Comienza por responder esta pregunta:¿Por qué quieres implementar un programa Wellness:

a) Esperas aumentar la productividad dentro de tu empresa.

b) Deseas reducir costos relacionados con pago de seguros, incapacidades, faltas, etc.

c) Buscas trabajadores felices, saludables y comprometidos.

Todos son motivos válidos, pero cada uno requiere de diferentes programas o estrategias para alcanzar el éxito, así que si tu respuesta fue:

a) El programa deberá estar orientado a la motivación y capacitación a través de cursos o talleres para manejo del estrés, desarrollo personal, liderazgo, productividad, team buildings, entre otros. Además, de una campaña de comunicación adecuada a las necesidades de la empresa y la medición de resultados.

b) El programa deberá enfocarse en ayudar a los empleados a adoptar y, lo más importante, mantener conductas o hábitos saludables.

c) Un equipo de trabajo constantemente capacitado y ubicado en una empresa la cual se preocupe por su salud con facilidad se sentirá integrado y apreciado por la misma.

  1. ¿Mi esfuerzo valdrá la pena? Antes de empezar, reúnete con tu equipo directivo (gerentes o coordinadores), y respondan lo siguiente:

Si comenzaran un programa Wellness hoy, ¿qué resultados y cambios esperan obtener en tres años? Por ejemplo, algunos indicadores a considerar en un programa de Wellness Corporativo son:

Año 1. Obtener más del 50% de participación, mejorar conocimientos, hábitos y conductas.

Año 2. Tendrán una mejora en conductas saludables más del 70% de los colaboradores, de los cuales 30% serán más activos físicamente.

Año 3. Los participantes generarán menos gastos médicos en comparación con aquellos que no forman parte del programa, un ahorro de al menos el 300% de su costo.

  1. ¿Cuál es el ADN de tu empresa? Debes identificar en qué tipo de empresa laboras, pues nunca será lo mismo realizar un programa Wellness para 50 personas que para 15 mil, al igual que su ubicación, idiomas utilizados, áreas y unidades de negocio, puesto o cargo del personal, ya que estos requieren distintas acciones.
  2. ¿Quién participará en el programa Wellness? ¿Quieres que todo el capital humano participe en el programa o sólo algunos puestos? ¿Actualmente cubres seguros de gastos médicos? ¿Qué alcance tiene?¿Qué hay de los familiares cercanos a los trabajadores?

Es importante considerar a la familia, pues es un factor clave para realizar cambios en nuestra vida. Así que si tu objetivo es reducir gastos relacionados con la salud y los riesgos de enfermedades (diabetes, cáncer, enfermedades cardiacas, etc.), entonces necesitas cambiar hábitos, y requerirás del apoyo de la familia.

  1. ¿Tienes al equipo necesario? Asegúrate de contar con un equipo realmente comprometido y un enfoque a largo plazo. Identificar líderes fuertes con las capacidades para desarrollar el programa es probablemente el factor más importante. Cuando tienes al equipo correcto tus empleados sienten que realmente lo hacen por y para ellos, y no es sólo una imposición más.

Los líderes lograrán que aumentes el porcentaje de participación, ya que generalmente mantienen un estilo de vida saludable, disfrutan ayudar a quien lo necesita  y tienen un alto nivel de compromiso y responsabilidad.

  1. ¿Solo o con profesionales? Decidir hacer el programa con tu equipo o con un proveedor de wellness es igual que preguntarte ¿Lo construyo o lo compro? Necesitas recursos que podrían costarte más generarlos (dinero, tiempo, personal…) que si los obtienes por otro lado. Piensa en las ventajas y desventajas:

 

Pasar una gran parte del día en el trabajo, sumado a la falta de opciones en alimentos, las pocas oportunidades para realizar actividad física, y la carga de trabajo, contribuyen a un bajo rendimiento y deterioro de la salud. Así que, al enfocarnos en lograr un cambio en nuestra cultura, estableceremos hábitos saludables que perduren.
