El sedentarismo también conocido como la “plaga contemporánea”, es un estilo de vida que se caracteriza principalmente por la falta de ejercicio o movilidad, cada vez más común entre la población en edad laboral y menores, pero ¿Cómo el sedentarismo afecta la salud? El INEGI, mediante su estudio: Módulo de Práctica Deportiva y Ejercicio Físico (MOPRADEF) elaborado en 2015, encontró que a pesar de los esfuerzos realizados por el gobierno para la elaboración e implementación de programas que fomentan la actividad física y un estilo de vida saludable, en México 58% de la población mantiene una vida sedentaria, es decir, inactiva. Incrementando los riesgos a la salud.

 

3 formas en que sedentarismo afecta la salud

 

De acuerdo con la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), 60% de la población mundial no realiza actividad física. Situación que favorece al desarrollo de enfermedades, como:

 

  1. Diabetes tipo 2.Un estudio realizado entre la población australiana,  titulado “Obesity and Lafestyle“, concluyó que aquellas personas quienes pasan un promedio de dos horas diarias frente al televisor o alguna pantalla, además de incrementar 46% el riesgo de mortalidad por problemas cardiovasculares, tienen mayor riesgo de padecer diabetes tipo 2.

 

  1. Padecimientos cardiovasculares. La combinación entre largas jornadas laborales, la falta de actividad física y el sedentarismo incrementa el riesgo a tener un infarto. Esto debido al aumento en la presión arterial, la falta de descanso y un estilo de vida poco saludable.

 

  1. Obesidad y sobrepeso. Estos padecimientos son un grave problema de salud social en México, pues una mala alimentación y la falta de movilidad, principalmente, son el resultado de que 72.5% de adultos en el país tengan sobrepeso u obesidad.

 

Para contrarrestarlo, es importante mantener hábitos saludables. Recuerda alimentarte sanamente y realizar por lo menos tres veces a la semana ejercicio durante 20 minutos, será una excelente inversión a largo plazo para mejorar la calidad de vida. ¡Tú puedes!
