La falta de actividad física y permanecer por mucho tiempo sentados son uno de los males que más aquejan a la sociedad laboral en la actualidad, hablamos del sedentarismo en el trabajo. El sedentarismo en el trabajo y cualquier ámbito, es un grave problema social el cual favorece al desarrollo de enfermedades no transmisibles como: Problemas cardiovasculares, diabetes tipo II, sobrepeso y obesidad, cáncer, entre otros.  Que además de dañar la salud de las personas, tiene un fuerte impacto en su desempeño laboral, vida personal y economía.

 

 

Cómo combatir el sedentarismo en el trabajo

 

La parte laboral juega un papel importante en cuanto al sedentarismo y sus consecuencias, ya que muchos empleos requieren que el personal labore la mayor parte del tiempo sentados frente a una computadora. Sin embargo, tener empleados con un estilo de vida de ese tipo puede ser contraproducente, ya que deberán cubrir como empresa las necesidades del afectado en caso de desarrollar una enfermedad no transmisible, y enfrentarse a situaciones de ausentismo, menor productividad, entre otras. Para evitar ser parte de las cifras, aquí te compartimos algunos tips para combatir el sedentarismo en el trabajo:

 

  • Emplea técnicas. Como empresa puedes implementar técnicas como yoga en la oficina. Una pequeña clase durante el día ayuda a mantener el cuerpo activo, elimina el estrés, disminuyen los dolores de espalda, entre otras ventajas.Como jefe, tienes la opción de realizar juntas o reuniones más interactivas, donde puedas hacerlo caminando o mediante la implementación de juegos.
  • Fomenta el ejercicio en el trabajo. Lo ideal es que las empresas cuenten con áreas destinadas al descanso y donde puedan también realizar ejercicio sus colaboradores. Pero si no es tu caso, puedes promover el uso de las escaleras en lugar del elevador, y pausas activas en distintos periodos del día.
  • Pon el ejemplo. Camina lo más que puedas para trasladarte de tu casa al trabajo o viceversa. Si viajas en transporte público puedes intentar hacerlo de pie, ya que la mayor parte del día estarás sentado. Comparte esas actividades con tu personal.

  • Emplea un programa de bienestar.
